Staying Connected and Safe: Severe Weather in Oregon

Power outages are impacting residents and businesses in Oregon due to high winds and severe weather. According to PGE, overnight high winds and weather caused scattered outages across the area.

Keeping Customers Connected During Storms

Comcast knows that connectivity is critical during severe weather. We have built proactive monitoring and reporting into our network so we can quickly respond.

Resources for Customers

We’re committed to empowering customers to prepare for and stay safe during winter storms. Here are a few tips and resources:

  • Download the Xfinity App: Monitor outages, report issues, check restoration timelines, and stay updated in real-time.
  • Download the Xfinity Stream App: View live TV, get weather updates, and download shows and movies beforehand to watch offline in case you lose power.
  • Secure Home Connectivity: Plug TV’s, modems, and cable boxes into a surge protector to protect them from damage in case of a sudden power outage.
  • Charge Devices in Advance: Ensure phones, tablets, and backup batteries are fully charged and enable power-saving features to conserve battery life.

If you’re a Comcast Business customer, here are a few steps you can take to help prepare:

  • Download the Comcast Business App: Stay up to date with real-time service updates and text alerts.
  • Remain Online with Comcast Business Connection Pro: Provides you with a 4G LTE backup router to keep your business connected even during a power outage.
  • Stay Connected with Comcast Business Mobile: Allows employees to connect to the most reliable 5G network nationwide, plus access to millions of WiFi hotspots nationwide to communicate on the go.

Our Restoration Process

If outages occur, local power must first be restored before Xfinity or Comcast Business Internet, video or phone services can begin working again. If your home or business has electricity but not service, it’s possible the commercial electrical utilities that power our local network have not yet been restored. To confirm, Comcast recommends restarting or resetting devices, including wireless gateways, modems, routers, and cable boxes.

Our Dedicated Team

From technicians braving the wind and rain to restore service to customer care representatives providing support, our Comcast teams’ commitment ensures customers stay connected when it matters most.

As we face the unpredictable winter season, Comcast remains steadfast in supporting our communities and delivering reliable service. For more resources and updates, visit xfinity.com/response and business.comcast.com/storm-ready for more.
